Der Ausgangspunkt der Kollektion ist ein Blazer, der fast drei Jahrzehnte Geschichte in sich trägt: Im Alter von sechzehn Jahren reiste Kartal zum ersten Mal nach Kurdistan, der Heimat seiner Eltern. Dort fertigte ihm der örtliche Familienneider einen Blazer an – ein Kleidungsstück, das zu einem stillen Symbol für Identität, Tradition und Zugehörigkeit wurde und nun als Inspiration und Prototyp für diese Kollektion dient.
Nun, fast dreißig Jahre später, kehrt Kartal mit genau diesem Blazer im Gepäck in die Region zurück, um seine Wurzeln neu zu entdecken. Die daraus entstandene Kollektion trägt den Titel Çarşema Sor (Kurmancî: „Roter Mittwoch“).
„Çarşema Sor das jesidische Neujahrsfest, wird in diesem Jahr am 15. April gefeiert. Es markiert den Beginn der Schöpfung, die Ankunft des Frühlings, die Wiedergeburt und die Erneuerung des Lebens. Während dieser besonderen Zeit werden Eier kunstvoll gefärbt, Häuser mit Blumen geschmückt, und viele Menschen pilgern in das heilige Tal von Lalish. Es ist eines der wichtigsten und bedeutungsvollsten Feste für die jesidische Gemeinschaft.“

The starting point of the collection is a blazer that carries almost three decades of history within it: At the age of sixteen, Kartal traveled for the first time to Kurdistan, his parents’ homeland. There, the local family tailor made him a blazer—a piece that became a quiet symbol of identity, tradition, and belonging, and which now serves as the inspiration and prototype for this collection.
Now, nearly thirty years later, Kartal returns to the region with that very blazer in his luggage to rediscover his roots. The resulting collection is titled Çarsema Sor (Kurmancî : “Red Wednesday”)
„Çarşema Sor, the Yazidi New Year, will be celebrated on April 15 this year. It marks the beginning of creation, the arrival of spring, rebirth and the renewal of life. During this special time, eggs are beautifully colored, homes are adorned with flowers, and many people make a pilgrimage to the sacred valley of Lalish. It is one of the most important and meaningful celebrations for the Yazidi people.“
